The moment I’ve received an email last Thursday saying …

Congratulations! Your blog http://www.shotnroll.com is a finalist for the Photo Blog Category at the 2011 (National) Philippine Blog Awards. We would like to invite you to the awards ceremony on the 3rd of December 2011, 6 pm at the Carlos P. Romulo Theater, RCBC Plaza, Ayala corner Buendia Makati City.

I said hey, wait a second, is this for real? Or this is just another internet scams that we don’t usually see everyday; Or maybe, just maybe, I’m just too denial to accept the fact that this blog has been recognized by the PBA (Philippine Blog Awards) judges as one of the finalists for the Photoblog Category – National Level. (Well I guess the answer is Yes, Ladies and Gents) I mean, who would have thought (even I) that this blog that I’ve created and playing with will be appreciated and recognized by the higher councils. “Tsamba” – yes it is! Hehehe!

Ladies and Gents, welcome to a place where you can find blue skies, white cross, green grass and peaceful silence all in one. Welcome to Manila American Cemetery and Memorial.

Just a brief info about this place, the Cemetery Gates are open from 9am to 5pm. Make no mistake about it folks, the guards here were really strict on implementing the house rules, specially the operating hours, which turns our normal shooting plan into a 30-minute photo walk challenge. How? Here’s the story (really boring and nonsense but I’ll say it anyway)…

We’ve took a cab ride from Ayala MRT Station (just to assure our destination since we don’t know how to get here) and tell Manong (the cool driver of the cab that plays a Bon Jovi track) that we need to get here to this beautiful, peaceful place for shooting. Good thing he knows this place so everything is smooth and easy for us.

We’ve arrived here at exactly 4:30 pm, relaxed and quite lazy. Upon entering the Cemetery Gates (my favorite cut from Pantera), Manong, who wears a cool, black sunglasses (who’s also one of the Security Guards of this place) approach us and handed out a laminated yellow paper which states the rules and regulations/ do’s and dont’s of the cemetery. So cutting the crap out, it’s clearly stated in the paper (which is also displayed at the gates which we didn’t notice)  that the regular operating hours is from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. – end of story!

So enough with the chit chat, here are some of the shots that I’ve come up within 30 minutes; and let me tell you, it ain’t easy shooting under time pressure. Hope you guys like this one. Check this out!

- is one of the popular tourist attractions here in Baguio that is usually visited for beautiful scenery and other activities. Ladies and Gents, welcome to a park that is definitely right to visit… Welcome to the Wright Park!

Fronting the main gate of The Mansion, you’ll find a massive, postcard look, rectangular pool of water known as the “Pool of Pines”, which is also one of the main features of this park.

Wright Park is just a few meters away from Botanical Garden. So I would suggest after shooting those beautiful flowers, take a minute walk towards the horses for a western experience.
