Rizal Day Photos, A Tribute to our National Hero…

As the countdown begins to the mysterious, upcoming year of 2012, Today, we celebrate another regular holiday before this year ends.

In commemorating the life and works of our national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal, Rizal Day is considered as one of the Philippine National Holiday that is celebrated every 30th day of December, his execution day at Bagumbayan (now known as Rizal Park) in 1896.

So without further adieu, in commemorating the life and works of Rizal, here’s my little tribute (a different set of photos rather than what we usually see like his monument or other statues) in recognition of our National Hero. A rare, 1970′s two peso bill that doesn’t exists nowadays. Check this out!

So the question is, where is Rizal now on our local peso bill? Here, in one peso coin, a.k.a “Piso“. But whatever bill he maybe placed, Dr. Jose Rizal will forever be remembered and recognized as our National Hero.

Xbox for Xmas, A Christmas Present, Xbox 360 Photos

Xbox for Xmas? Definitely somethin’ you wouldn’t imagine to recieved this Christmas season. Why? #1, is because it is too expensive (absolutely insane price when Kinect is included); and #2, this Xbox thing is a machine built for distraction. Yes folks, it’s the sad truth about it. Ever since I’ve got this one, my hunger for taking pictures using my precious DSLR has been decreased. But on a positive note, this Xbox really Rocks! As they say, having this one is “sulit”.

Since all of us know, what’s this machine, apparatus, console, video game or what ever you may call it, I’ll just skip the technical chit-chat (since we didn’t need it anyway) and just go straight ahead showing the pictures that I’ve taken. Hope you enjoy this one folks as much as I enjoy playing it! Check this out!

The Baguio Botanical Garden

- is one of the places here in Baguio that is visited by most people. Considered as one of the tourist attractions, the Botanical Garden features Igorots, Native Huts and different, colorful flowers which simply describes the beauty and culture of Baguio.

This is one of the places here in Baguio to relax, sit down and enjoy with the natures presence.

At the main entrance, you’ll find a group of Igorots at who are happy to pose for you to for picture taking.

Left and right, from front to the back, flowers, flowers, and more flowers! So all of you flowerholics and nature trippers, don’t visit this place when you don’t have your camera, coz you’ll definitely regret it!

Aside from the flowers, trees and insects, there’s also some Igorot statues you’ll find in this place. Not to mention the wishing well, you’ll find this place also packed with beautiful and unique landscapes.

Visiting Manila Ocean Park is good as always… Even if it’s 2nd time.

Ladies and Gents, allow me to welcome you again to the state of the art hydro cells of Manila Ocean Park
where shooting is sweeter, the second time around.

What’s the difference between the 1st and 2nd visit?

1. Same old cells, new faces
- Yup! Some fish were replaced by the new ones.

2. No more Spider Crab
-Yes it’s true, the gigantic spider crab is gone, and wherever he is, he will always be remembered.
Long live the spider crab. \m/

3. Rose at Rest
- On my 1st visit, I use my lens named Rose (Canon 50mm f/1.8 II) to test under low-light conditions. So since this is a revisit, I use my all around lens named Daisy (Canon 17-85mm IS USM) instead, to feel the difference and compare results.

Here’s the difference between the two ladies (Canon 50mm vs. Canon 17-85mm):
1. Settings
- Good settings equals good photos. Here’s the settings that I’ve used on my 1st and 2nd shoot.

Canon 50mm lens settings:
ISO 800
f/2.5 to f/3.5
1/60 to 1/100 sec

Canon 17-85mm lens settings.
ISO 1600
f/5.6
1/15 to 1/60 sec

- Based on the settings above, Canon 50mm is the good one to use.
+1 for Rose.

2. Zoom range
- 50mm vs 85mm? Canon 17-85mm wins this one obviously. You can shoot those fishes more closely.
+1 for Daisy

3. Clarity
- No doubt about it, Canon 50mm lens has it! This lens is indeed produces more sharper images than Canon 17-85mm lens.
+1 for Rose.

4. Image Quality
- The higher the ISO is, the more noise it produce. Hence, generating much lower image quality. Therefore, Canon 50mm got this one with ISO 800 compared to Canon 17-85mm lens with ISO 1600.
+1 for Rose.

Score:
Canon 50mm: 3
Canon 17-85mm: 1

As for the verdict, I personally recommend to use the Canon 50mm or any wide aperture lens you’ve got when you’re planning to shoot at this place.

To give you a little info ’bout this place, entrance costs P150 bucks, compared to Oceanarium which costs P400 bucks. So if you avail their Moonlight Adventure Package (your entrance for both Ocean Park and Maiden of the Sea, costs P500), it would cost you a total of P650 bucks.

Reasonable price? Yes!

What you’ll get on 150 bucks? Jellies and Rhythms!

And yeah, they got the moves!

This place is not for your eyes only, but also in your ears coz of the music. So if you’re looking for a unique museum to visit, count this one in. And to give you an info ’bout the music being played in this place, it’s all instrumental.

But if they will play heavy metal tracks like Pantera or Iron Maiden here, I’ll be gladly to pay the entrance fee even it would cost 500 bucks! \m/
