Fronting the main gate of The Mansion, you’ll find a massive, postcard look, rectangular pool of water known as the “Pool of Pines”, which is also one of the main features of this park.

Wright Park is just a few meters away from Botanical Garden. So I would suggest after shooting those beautiful flowers, take a minute walk towards the horses for a western experience.

Manila Ocean Park Photos, Oceanarium Revisited

Ladies and Gents, allow me to welcome you again to the state of the art hydro cells of Manila Ocean Park
where shooting is sweeter, the second time around.

What’s the difference between the 1st and 2nd visit?

1. Same old cells, new faces
- Yup! Some fish were replaced by the new ones.

2. No more Spider Crab
-Yes it’s true, the gigantic spider crab is gone, and wherever he is, he will always be remembered.
Long live the spider crab. \m/

3. Rose at Rest
- On my 1st visit, I use my lens named Rose (Canon 50mm f/1.8 II) to test under low-light conditions. So since this is a revisit, I use my all around lens named Daisy (Canon 17-85mm IS USM) instead, to feel the difference and compare results.

Here’s the difference between the two ladies (Canon 50mm vs. Canon 17-85mm):
1. Settings
- Good settings equals good photos. Here’s the settings that I’ve used on my 1st and 2nd shoot.

Canon 50mm lens settings:
ISO 800
f/2.5 to f/3.5
1/60 to 1/100 sec

Canon 17-85mm lens settings.
ISO 1600
f/5.6
1/15 to 1/60 sec

- Based on the settings above, Canon 50mm is the good one to use.
+1 for Rose.

2. Zoom range
- 50mm vs 85mm? Canon 17-85mm wins this one obviously. You can shoot those fishes more closely.
+1 for Daisy

3. Clarity
- No doubt about it, Canon 50mm lens has it! This lens is indeed produces more sharper images than Canon 17-85mm lens.
+1 for Rose.

4. Image Quality
- The higher the ISO is, the more noise it produce. Hence, generating much lower image quality. Therefore, Canon 50mm got this one with ISO 800 compared to Canon 17-85mm lens with ISO 1600.
+1 for Rose.

Score:
Canon 50mm: 3
Canon 17-85mm: 1

As for the verdict, I personally recommend to use the Canon 50mm  or any wide aperture lens you’ve got when you’re planning to shoot at this place.

And yeah, they got the moves!

This place is not for your eyes only, but also in your ears coz of the music. So if  you’re looking for a unique museum to visit, count this one in.  And to give you an info ’bout the music being played in this place, it’s all instrumental.

But if they will play heavy metal tracks like Pantera or Iron Maiden here, I’ll be gladly to pay the entrance fee even it would cost 500 bucks! \m/

Ladies and Gents, welcome to the next chapter of my Bonded by Blog photo compilation as we celebrate 1 whole month of Shot n’ Roll Anniversary. Welcome to the Chapter 4: Metamorphosis.

Metamorphosis – a biological process by which an animal physically develops after birth or hatching, involving a conspicuous and relatively abrupt change in the animal’s body structure through cell growth and differentiation. One word that best describes this? Transformation.

Just adding a little disclaimer, the shots here were not taken using macro lens coz I didn’t have one. Hence, I just used my good old buddy kit lens and adopt the macro style shots as closest as possible. So technically and professionally, if it’s a mistake to use the term “macro” here, my bad, my apologize.

Anyway,  without the ifs and buts, without further ado, I now present you the chapter of transformation. Witness the complete transformation of these insects to a beautiful, eye-catchin’ subjects. Check this out! \m/

There’s always a debate about what or who comes first. (The egg or the chicken) Well my answer is simple. Mating comes first! Hehehe!  This should be the beginning of every life cycle before the female carries an egg. But scientifically in this case, the Egg is the first stage in the butterfly and moth life cycle.

Here’s how it goes man. The complete Metamorphosis of a Butterfly.

The larva hatches from the egg. Butterfly and moth larvae are usually called Caterpillars. Caterpillars spend most of their time eating. Butterflies and moths do all of their growing when they’re caterpillars, and food gives them the energy and body-building materials they need. A caterpillar’s exoskeleton can’t stretch or grow, so the caterpillar sheds its skin, or molts, several times as it grows.

When a caterpillar has finished growing, it forms a Pupa. From the outside, the pupa looks as if it’s resting. But inside, every part of the caterpillar is changing. Most of its organs and other body parts dissolve and re-form into the organs, tissues, limbs and wings of the adult. Butterfly pupae are called chrysalises. Many moth caterpillars spin cocoons and form pupae inside them.

When the pupa has finished changing, it molts one last time and emerges as an adult Butterfly or Moth. The adult emerges with its wings folded up against its body. The butterfly or moth pumps blood into the wings to expand them. The adult is the stage when butterflies and moths mate and reproduce. Females lay their eggs on plants or other surfaces, and the cycle starts all over again.

As the transformation completes, these colorful flying insects will definitely catch every lens attention. Check this out!

The Philippine Tarsier (Tarsius syrichta), known locally as the Maumag in Cebuano/Visayan and Mamag in Luzon, is an endangered species endemic to the Philippines.

Bohol Tarsiers are considered as one the worlds smallest primate coz it’s approximately measures 4-5 inches only. These endangered species has a tail longer than its body. They have a bat-like ears, long finger-like claws and electrifying rounded eyes which symbolizes their kind.
